Why are workpieces processed by wire cutting prone to deformation?
Add Time:2024-04-23
The causes and solutions of workpiece deformation caused by wire-cutting process

1. Causes of workpiece deformation
§  Cutting parameters are not suitable: When wire cutting processing, if the cutting parameters are set unreasonable, such as too large current, too fast cutting speed, etc., the workpiece will be overheated or the slit is not wide enough, resulting in workpiece deformation.
§  The workpiece is not firmly fixed: the workpiece needs to be firmly clamped during wire cutting processing, if the fixing is not firmly enough, there will be workpiece displacement or distortion, resulting in workpiece deformation.
§  Material internal stress: in the cutting process, there may be residual stress inside the workpiece material, when these stresses are not released in time, it will lead to the deformation of the workpiece after cutting.
2.Second, the solution
§  Adjust cutting parameters: Set cutting parameters reasonably for different workpiece materials and shapes. In the process of wire cutting, the current, pulse width, pulse frequency and other parameters should be strictly controlled in order to better control the workpiece temperature and slit width, and reduce the possibility of workpiece deformation.

§  Enhance workpiece fixation: When performing wire cutting processing, the workpiece must be fixed firmly, using a professional fixture or a combination of fixtures.

§  Optimize the internal stress of the material: the residual stress can be alleviated by means of exit holes and machining belly holes. In addition, cooling, annealing and other processes can also effectively alleviate the internal stress of the material.
§  Consider strengthening the stiffness of the workpiece: increasing the shell structure and plate thickness of the workpiece can improve the stiffness and stability of the workpiece, thereby reducing the possibility of workpiece deformation.
To sum up, the workpiece deformation problem in the process of wire cutting is a relatively common problem. Through reasonable setting of cutting parameters, optimization of workpiece fixation, relieving internal stress of materials and strengthening workpiece stiffness, the workpiece deformation can be effectively reduced and the quality and efficiency of wire-cutting processing can be improved.
